Frankincense is a hard, gelatinous resin exuded from the trunk incisions of the frankincense tree, in the genus Boswellia and family Burseraceae. Sourced mainly from Somalia, Ethiopia, and India, it is used as a cosmetic and a fragrance. Frankincense oil may have many medicinal uses given its properties as anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-ulcer, antioxidant, and memory booster [10]. The use of Frankincense for cleansing and religious rites goes back to Mesopotamia and the Eastern Mediterranean from the earliest antiquity.
